Pete
Wasserman and Joe Liselli both
grew up in Long Island, both became New York City firemen.
Pete and Joe both suffered an unthinkable loss on September 11th,
2001, losing a total of more than 15 of their fellow firefighters
and friends.
Their tragic story came to the attention of the producers
of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition", who decided that these
guys deserved a major miracle.
Knowing how much Pete and Joe love fishing, the Extreme Makeover team
sent them on a charter fishing trip in Key West, Florida. Meanwhile, Matt Plaskoff, Construction Consultant to "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition", contacted his friend Sal Ferro from Alure Home Improvements and asked him to do the project. Sal happily agreed and sent a team to help work on Pete and Joe's small
apartment, radically transforming it in just 12 hours, the final two
of which aired live on national TV Thursday, May 6.
Construction and remodeling in New York City is extremely tough. A
complete apartment or condominium remodel often takes over a year
to complete. This particular episode was truly a feat as the crew completed the job down to the minute.
The episode was a success and remodel could not have been performed
for a better group of guys.
